Youth Programs

Our Youth Department is committed to serving youth of all ages in academic success, mentoring, peeer-support in schools, all the way to professional development through various workshops, trainings, events, and sports.

Every year, we work closely with Portland Public Schools, David Douglas School Distric, schools in Washington County as well as Clackamas and Marion to ensure that youth from Immigrant and Refugee families are equipped with the knowledges, tools, and resources to succeed.

Youth Empowerment Squad (YES) Program
The Youth Empowerment Squad (YES) Program is ARIO's youth violence prevention and positive youth development initiative serving youth ages 9–25. Through trusted mentors, safe spaces, and culturally responsive support, the program helps young people build confidence, strengthen leadership skills, make healthy decisions, and stay connected to their schools, families, and communities.

YES provides mentoring, leadership development, academic support, recreation, workforce readiness, behavioral health referrals, and family support to help youth reach their full potential. By creating positive opportunities and reducing risks associated with violence, gang involvement, substance use, and school disengagement, the program empowers youth to become resilient leaders who contribute to safer, stronger communities.
Behavioral Health Resource Network (BHRN) Program
The ARIO Behavioral Health Resource Network (BHRN) Program provides culturally and linguistically responsive behavioral health, substance use, and recovery support for individuals and families. Through compassionate, person-centered care, the program reduces barriers to treatment, promotes harm reduction, and connects community members with the resources they need to improve their health and well-being.

BHRN offers behavioral health screenings, peer support, case management, recovery navigation, mental health and treatment referrals, Naloxone education, and connections to housing, employment, and other essential services. By meeting people where they are with dignity and respect, the program helps individuals and families build stability, support recovery, and strengthen healthier, safer communities.

TThe ARIO Youth Sports Department is proud to host monthly Open Gym sessions in both Washington and Multnomah County. ARIO also has two youth sports teams (ARIO Eagles) who respectfully play in different basketball and soccer leauges.
